about
The Northeastern University Black Student Association (NBSA) wishes to
explore the best ways to come together and create a potent voice within the
Northeastern University community.
NBSA has set out to improve the relationship between students and the
African American Institute.
NBSA is also looking to create a fruitful, collaborative connection with the
African American Studies Department.
The N.U. Black Student Association wishes to open up productive, honest,
and meaningful dialogue concerning a broad range of issues that emanate
from across the entire stretch of the African Diaspora.
NBSA sees the necessity to embrace those who identify with the Diaspora,
and those who wish to acquire knowledge about the Diaspora, but most importantly
those who are willing to acknowledge, denounce, and challenge the inequality of
opportunity that many around the globe face and have faced, due to their
connection to the Diaspora.
NBSA would like to assist in the re-education process that so often takes place
during ones tenure at an institution of higher learning. This re-education must
deal with a better understanding of self, as related to historical accuracy, and
it must address current challenges. Yet NBSA believes students must also build
stronger inter-ethnic relationships, and understanding, to aid in the overall
struggle for unity, respect, and fairness.
As it pertains to Northeastern University, the Northeastern University Black
Student Association hopes to help students become more involved in University
representative bodies. NBSA seeks to augment the voice of students of color
and work with these bodies to strengthen the influence of the general student body
with the administration of the University. In conclusion, NBSA sees the need for
unification within the Black community on campus, and will seekto pursue the best
methods to achieve this goal.
